So much for resolutions...

Yeah, yeah, I know.  I said I was going to be here more often.  So sue me.  I don't know who I thought I was kidding.  Between a new grandbaby (who is now almost four months old and an absolute doll!), working toward becoming the assistant director at work, working toward NAEYC reaccreditation for the center, preparing for CDA assessment, the normal day-to-day tasks of being the lead Pre-K teacher, helping with the March of Dimes campaign and somewhere in there finding time to take care of daily chores and spending time with R, well, I'm afraid blogging took back burner.

I have been reading, although not as much as I'd like.  I haven't picked up my cross-stitch in weeks again.  I'm slacking on WW.  Yes, I'm sliding into the abyss again.  But this week was supposed to be my week to take care of me.  That's right, I took a vacation.  However, I've been on standby to go into work because we are waiting for NAEYC to call to say they will be at the center.  I actually went in on Monday to redo two of my bulletin boards.  I've finished five evidence folders for my NAEYC portfolio.  I've been working on lesson plans.  I've been over at Kim's new apartment three days helping her move in and helping entertain the kids (Baby Adeleigh and Morgan, Chris' child from his previous relationship).  Then the real kicker that has just sealed my vacation into suckidom - R has been sick.  He went to the doctor yesterday and it is just a cold.  But we all know how men can be when they are sick.  So much for time for me.

That said, I did to go Joseph Beth to see one of my favorite authors, Jodi Piccoult.  She autographed her newest release, Handle With Care.  Book club (yes, I FINALLY found one that meets on an evening I can attend!) is reading Plain Truth for our April meeting.  I'm looking forward to reading both of these selections.  I thoroughly enjoyed the March book, The Soloist by Steve Lopez.  It definitely wasn't a fluff piece like some of the cozy mysteries I've curled up with in the past year.

Tomorrow is going to be another "fun-filled" day of my vacation.  I'll begin by taking my car the Kia dealership to have it evaluated for what will surely be several thousand dollars in repairs.  Okay, maybe several hundred, but regardless, it's a lot of money.  Then it's off to Kimborina's house to motivate her to finish moving in and work on some lesson plans while she does.  Loving on the baby is a definite benefit to that task.  Saturday I will be attending a gymnastic meet of one of my former students.  I'm sure R will want to go out to dinner.  His birthday is next week and the birthday email freebies are rolling in.  Red Robin is no doubt on the agenda for lunch one afternoon and Mimi's for breakfast at some point this weekend.   Maybe on Sunday, if he's feeling up to it, I'll take him to the Celtic Lands Culture Fest at the Museum Center.  Then on Monday, it's back to the grind.

I will eventually get my book list up and running on LJ.  Here are the books I've read so far this year:

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle   David Wroblewski
Mistletoe Murder   Leslie Meier
Coraline   Neil Gaiman
The Soloist  Steve Lopez
The Woman in Black    Susan Hill

Five in three months is not going to get me to fifty by the end of the year.  Maybe this summer will be better for having free time.  Well, I can dream, can't I?

Peace my friends

Happy New Year!!!!

Well, here it is another new year and again I have not fulfilled resolutions from last year. I did read more this last, finishing out at 20+ books. However, most of the books I read were fluff. Some fluff is a good thing, but this year I have set my goal at 50 books and reading from a variety of genres. I have joined a challenge group and will be tracking my progress here as well as on my LJ account - Ms. Sandie's Reading Log.

I am continuing my classes at Ellis University working toward completing my degree. I hope to matriculate early 2010.

I have rejoined Weight Watchers.

I am actively working on restoring lost friendships. Don't be surprised if you hear from me soon.

And I will be posting lots and lots of pictures of the baby.

I haven't decided what to do about kimmiesmommie.com While I am and will always be kimmiesmommie, I am identifying more as MsSandie these days. So, while I would like to get my personal site back up and running, I am thinking I may move it to a new url all together. More to come as I make that decision.

Regardless, I plan to be around far more often in the upcoming year.

Peace my friends.

A New Baby

It's hard to believe that it's been three years since I posted here.  I know the last time I posted at my other site was over two years ago.  So much has happened in these many years and at the moment I have lost access to my other site.  So I'm hoping that through here and word of mouth I can reconnect with lost friends.

The most important and exciting is the news that my baby, Kimberley, gave birth to her first baby, Adeleigh Melitta.  Adeleigh arrived this morning at 7:37 am by c-section after some complications with the pregnancy and 30 hours of trying to induce.  She weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz., and is 19 1/2 inches.  She is active and mellow and simply beautiful.

While uploading photos, I came across Kim's baby photo.  Anyone else see a resemblance?

So, what else has been going on?  Hmmm, Randy & I divorced.  I am living with my "boyfriend" (for lack of a better word), Roger.  We have been together two years next month.  Kim lives with her significant other, Chris.  They have been together a little more than a year.

I have been working for Kindercare since October 2005.  I began as the Lead Kindergarten Enrichment Teacher as well as the School Age Lead Teacher.  I also have taught reading and phonics and now have developed a kid's cooking class.  At the end of this summer, I became the lead Pre-K teacher as part of my professional development plan, working toward continueing to move up in the company.

Kim has been working in retail management.  After her maternity leave, she is hopeful to go back to school.

As I sat here last night, watching and waiting, it really hit home how much I miss the friends and family I've lost contact with.  In my previous relationship (after Randy, before Roger) I allowed myself to be cut off from everyone.  When I moved on, I became so busy working on my schooling and career, that I continued to stay removed from everyone.  I miss you all and hope to catch up with you all and mend fences so that my flower garden of loved ones is in full bloom again!

Hey there!  Just thought I'd pop in and say hello to my xanga friends.  I'm going to try to start blogging again, but at my other site: http://www.kimmiesmommie.com/.  We'll see how it goes.
